Anthony Delivanis
After college Anthony was a horn fellow at the New World Symphony for three years and had the chance to work with Michael Tilson Thomas and be mentored by different visiting professional horn musicians. After his fellowship in Miami Anthony decided to step away from the horn and pursuit of playing in an orchestra and transitioned to working in the software industry.
Seven years later Anthony decided that working in software was not the right career for him and decided to pursue playing the horn again. Since then Anthony has had the opportunity to perform with orchestras in the San Francisco Bay Area including the San Francisco Symphony and San Francisco Ballet, as well as Opera San José, the Santa Cruz Symphony, and the Santa Rosa Symphony.
Fourth Horn
Anthony Delivanis is a horn player from Mountain View, California who joined the San Francisco Opera Orchestra as fourth horn in 2025.
His musical experience began by learning the piano and trumpet in elementary school and in seventh grade was convinced to switch from trumpet to the french horn to increase the number of horn players in the middle school band.
Anthony continued studying music by being a member of the Mountain View High School marching band and wind ensemble, and was also a member of the California Youth Symphony. After high school Anthony was fortunate to study with James Thatcher at the University of Southern California. Anthony also had the chance during college to study part time with Julie Landsman, Kevin Rivard, and Steven Becknell, all of whom are former or current principal horn players of opera companies in the United States.
