Jonna Hervig, a member of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra’s viola section, was born in Iowa City, Iowa. She first studied viola at the University of Iowa with William Preucil. She then went to New York, where she studied with Lillian Fuchs at Manhattan School of Music and Willliam Lincer at The Juilliard School. Ms. Hervig has studied chamber music with the Lennox String Quartet, the Juilliard Quartet, and the Guarneri Quartet. She has played in the Aspen Festival Orchestra and the Teton Music Festival Orchestra.
Jonna lives in Oakland with her two boys. She enjoys volunteering for animal rescue programs such as Pets and Pals, the Sausalito Marine Mammal Resource Center, and the Lindsay Wildlife Museum.
